Nintendo has announced that it is ending repair support for the New Nintendo 3DS.

In March of this year, Nintendo alerted customers that spare parts for the 2DS, New 3DS, and New 3DS XL were running low and wouldn’tt be restocked. This hinted that Nintendo would end repair service for these systems as soon as their current inventory of spare parts was depleted.

Now, according to a post shared by Nintendo’s Japanese customer support account on X, Nintendo has run out of replacement parts for New Nintendo 3DS systems.

The end of repair support rules out official first-party repair for your malfunctioning New 3DS. Nintendo’s decision not to restock spare parts for the New 3DS seems logical, as the company stopped producing the system back in 2020.

The Nintendo 3DS had five different models—the original 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS, New 3DS, New 3DS XL, and the New 2DS XL. The entire Nintendo 3DS lineup was a hit, with Nintendo selling over 75.94 million models by 2020. The 3DS lineup also witnessed the launch of some of the best games on the system like the Pokémon Sun/Moon duo and Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

Nintendo is slowly closing all the support it offers for the 3DS models. In 2023, 3DS eShops were closed, and at the beginning of this year, Nintendo shut down the handheld’s online service.

With Nintendo officially closing the repair service, the only option left for users to get their damaged New 3DS repaired is to get in touch with third-party services like iFixit or watch YouTube tutorials for do-it-yourself fixes.
