A leak on a Chinese forum purports to show renders of the Nintendo Switch 2, showing the device from various angles.
The images, which were shared on Reddit but originally came from a Chinese site, also show the Switch 2 alongside the original Switch. We can see a larger, 8-inch screen and two USB Type-C ports on the top and bottom of the console.
The console’s design looks similar to the Switch, with detachable Joy-Cons. However, the chunky attachment rails are notably absent, which could give credit to rumors of a magnetic attachment solution.
In the leaks, the device is referred to as the “Switch second generation model STP” and “SWITCH2 model STP”.
The leaked spec sheet, which includes hardware IDs, suggests the device packs 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM at 7500 MT/s speeds, and an impressive 256GB of storage (the original Switch had 32GB). It’s rumored to be powered by Nvidia’s T239 processor.
Nintendo’s upcoming handheld will reportedly retain the NFC reader, headphone jack, and touchscreen from the original Switch, but will add a built-in mic.
These specs are consistent with an earlier leak via Famiboards that looked at shipment and customs info from Nvidia and Nintendo.
A source also told Video Games Chronicle that the leaked images are in line with what Nintendo has briefed partners to expect from the new console’s design.
LCD Display Could Explain Switch’s Rumored Affordability
We’ve already heard rumors that the Switch 2 will sport an LCD screen rather than an OLED display, to keep costs down. There are supposedly two SKUs, however, leading some to speculate that one could one be a more expensive model with a superior screen.
Last week the price of the Switch successor also seemingly leaked on the GTA 6 Discord server and was later shared by Technical-Manager921 on Reddit. The price in the US is rumored to be around $400, or more than the Switch but a bargain after the recent $700 PS5 Pro announcement.

Take all of this with a large grain of salt, as we don’t know if this most recent leak is real. We’ll need to wait for the Switch 2’s official announcement, which some say could come in early October. Others surmise we may be waiting until March 2025 to see the Switch’s successor.
