Nintendo of America is actively removing leaked Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom gameplay videos after a ROM leak surfaced online last week.
Following a ROM leak for Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom last week, the internet has been besieged with unofficial gameplay videos, which Nintendo of America is actively taking down with copyright claims.
Though it doesn’t seem like significant gameplay has leaked, fans have been warned to brace for spoilers over the next ten days ahead of the game’s release, and may want to consider muting related keywords on X and other social media channels.
Redditor 43eyes spotted YouTube footage, which reportedly first appeared on 4Chan, showing a user playing the upcoming Zelda title for a few seconds.
Nintendo has since removed the content, and anyone trying to view the video will see the message, “This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Nintendo of America Inc.”
With news of the ROM leak last week, YouTuber Nintendo Prime said in a post on X that they had checked the link and confirmed it as “the ROM for Echoes of Wisdom.” They are not distributing the material but said it is now playable on emulators.
I have confirmed via a link the rom is real: Echoes of Wisdom has officially leaked two weeks ahead of release. Get your word blocks in folks. Whole game to be spoiled by tomorrow

Zelda Lore also confirmed the leak on X, saying that people already have it on emulators.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen footage of a first-party Nintendo game leak before launch. In 2023, fans saw the opening section of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom online ten days before launch, while Super Mario Bros. Wonder also leaked a few days before its official release date.
In 2022, we saw Pokémon Scarlet and Violet leak online two weeks before release.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom features Zelda, rather than Link, as the main protagonist. The game will be released on Nintendo Switch on September 26th.
