Nintendo has revealed plans for its next Indie World showcase online event, streaming April 17th at 10AM Eastern, providing a platform for indie game developers to showcase their creations heading to the Switch in 2024.

Writing on X (formerly Twitter), Nintendo said the presentation will be broadcast live on the gaming giant’s official YouTube channel.

Speculation abounds as enthusiasts anticipate multiple potential announcements, including updates on Hollow Knight: Silksong. Recent developments, including game ratings in Australia and South Korea, alongside a listing on the Microsoft Store, have fueled anticipation for Team Cherry’s long-awaited Metroidvania title.

While Silksong commands significant attention, other indie titles may also make an appearance. World of Goo 2, from 2D Boy and The Tomorrow Corporation, is slated for a May release. Additionally, Tchia‘s arrival on the Switch in June makes it a viable candidate for the event.

The significance of this showcase also extends beyond individual game announcements. As Nintendo’s next console iteration (tentatively named Switch 2) looms on the horizon for a 2025 release, this may mark one of the final Indie World presentations dedicated solely to the original Switch console.

Amidst these developments, Nintendo recently confirmed its absence from Gamescom 2024, opting instead to engage players through other events throughout the year.
