Ever since the Pocophone F1, Xiaomi‘s sub-brand POCO has delighted millions of smartphone owners with its blend of flagship specs at midrange prices. And it looks set to continue, with early hints of the Pocophone F7 already spotted online. A global launch is expected at the start of 2025.
While the model number of the flagship Pocophone has only surfaced recently, coming quickly on the heels of the Pocophone F6, we can already follow some clues to suggest it will share DNA with the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi Turbo 4 and be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 series processors.
Here is all we have gathered from the rumors and leaks so far.
What is the POCO F7?
Next-gen POCO Flagship Smartphone
Pocophone F7, or POCO F7, will replace the POCO F6 lineup, released in May 2024. The phone will likely follow tradition and come in two models — the standard POCO F7 and the POCO F7 Pro.
In August, a tipster took to X to share the model numbers of the vanilla variant of the phone. GSMA database and will launch soon. According to XiaomiTime, the GSMA database confirms the marketing name of the phone, with the model number as POCO F7 and the manufacturer as Xiaomi Communications Company Limited, the parent company of the POCO brand.
The POCO F7 could serve as a global version of a future Xiaomi Redmi ‘Turbo’ smartphone, given that the POCO F6 and POCO F5 were rebranded Redmi Turbo 3 and Redmi Note 12 Turbo devices, respectively.
When is the POCO F7 Coming Out?
Expected Release Date: First Half 2025
POCO is known for releasing its ‘F’ series smartphones within the first half of the year. The last three POCO F series were released between May and June in each launch year.
We don’t expect this pattern to change in the upcoming POCO F7. So expect the POCO F7 release date to fall within the first half of 2025, possibly in May like we saw in POCO F5 and POCO F6.
POCO F7 Rumored Design and Specs
Updated Snapdragon 8 Series Chipset, Improved AMOLED Display, Better Camera, More Storage Capacity
While POCO has kept mute on the details to expect from the upcoming POCO F7, we expect an improved processor, likely the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, since the last edition featured the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3.
Based on the previous model’s specs comparisons, we can predict that the POCO F7 display may remain the same as in the predecessor, so expect a 6.67-inch or 6.72-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz or 144Hz refresh rate. The Corning Gorilla Glass Armor may see some upgrades.
The phone may also be available in 8GB and 12GB RAM options, with 256GB, 512GB or even 1TB storage.
For cameras, the POCO F7 may have a triple camera setup with a 50MP or 64MP primary camera, 8MP or more, ultra-wide-angle lens, and 2MP or 5MP macro lens. The front camera may remain 20MP like in POCO F6.
The battery capacity is expected to be 5000+mAh, with support for fast charging. Xiaomi is experimenting with larger battery capacities, so while it may be a bit too soon, perhaps we will see 7,400maH batteries float down to the sub-brands.
The operating system will likely be based on the Android 15 (HyperOS). All these specs are still early speculations, so expect updates when we have new information on the POCO F7 specifications and features.
POCO F7 Launch Price
Estimated Launch Price: $379+
Predicting the POCO F7 launch price could be difficult since the phone’s release date may still be months away. However, we can make an educated guess based on the launch prices of the previous models.
POCO prefers to increase the starting price of its F series flagships with recent editions. The POCO 5 base model started at $329, while the POCO F6 started at $379.
So, following this strategy, it’s possible we will see another price increase in the upcoming POCO 7 series. We expect the POCO F7 starting price to be above $379 when it finally arrives.
