Proton VPN Browser Extension Now Free for Everyone

Proton VPN now allows you to get and use its browser extension for free on Firefox and Chromium-based browsers. 

With hackers constantly developing new ways to track IP addresses, using a VPN has become more important than ever, especially if you want to protect your identity and prevent tracking. 

Proton VPN servers are accessible through an app or browser extension. While the app still requires a Proton Premium membership, the Proton VPN extension is now free on Firefox and Chromium-based browsers, which includes Microsoft Edge, Brave, and Google Chrome.

How to Use the Proton VPN Browser Extension 

To use the Proton VPN extension on a Chromium-based browser, follow these steps:

• Download and install it.
• Go to the browser’s extensions page.
• Click the Proton VPN icon.
• Log in with your Proton VPN account.
• Click the “Connect” button to connect to the fastest free server.

Similarly, you can download the extension on Firefox.

How Proton VPN Browser Extension Works

The Proton VPN extension operates independently from the browser. This means that when you’re connected to a VPN server on your browser, you won’t see any speed fluctuations or VPN-related issues when accessing an application outside the browser.

You can also use the Proton VPN extension to connect to two different servers on two different browsers on the same device. For example, on your Chrome browser, you can use the Proton VPN extension to connect to a nearby VPN server and simultaneously use the Proton VPN extension on your Brave browser to connect to an entirely different VPN server.

However, the option to connect to two different VPN servers simultaneously on a system using the Proton VPN extension is currently only available with a Proton paid plan. 

The most recent paid plan is Proton Duo. It is designed for two users and includes 1 TB of storage space plus 15 GB of bonus storage each year.
