Alan Wake 2 devs have confirmed a return to the world of Control in FBC: Firebreak’s first trailer, further expanding the Remedy Connected Universe.
With a full-blown sequel to 2019’s Control still in the works, Remedy fans won’t have to wait long at all for a return to the FBC and all the surreal secrets of The Oldest House.
Alan Wake 2’s Control crossover DLC The Lake House will be released on October 22, and the fun won’t stop there, with Control multiplayer spinoff FBC: Firebreak receiving its first trailer and a 2025 release date.
Firebreak players will be in control of an FBC response team, mopping up the rest of the monstrous threats lurking in the bureau headquarters – and possibly beyond – after the conclusion of the original game.
Rather than being able to solo this Hiss threat like Control protagonist Jesse Faden, players will rely more on teamwork, concentrated firepower, and an array of paranatural equipment to get the job done.
Co-op PVE shooters are likely to see an explosion in popularity in the next few years following the unprecedented success of Helldivers 2, but what seems to be setting FBC: Firebreak apart from the pack right now is its tone and sense of humor.
Sure, you’ll be plowing through hordes of nightmarish otherworldly entities, but there aren’t many other games out there right now that will let you do so with explosive garden gnomes.
Remedy Entertainment has been on a serious hot streak since the 2019 launch of Control. With the demand for more stories in the studio’s intriguing connected worlds higher than ever, FBC: Firebreak may just be the first of many Control spin-offs to come.
