Over the weekend, Team Ninja released Update 1.08 for Rise of the Ronin, adding support for the upcoming PlayStation 5 Pro.
This update, arriving just ahead of the PS5 Pro’s November 7 release, is designed to enhance the game’s graphics and frame rate, particularly in its intense combat sequences.

Available only for PS5, Rise of the Ronin was initially launched in March 2024, setting players in Japan’s Bakumatsu era with a focus on samurai action and exploration.
The latest patch leverages the PS5 Pro’s upgraded hardware to deliver sharper visuals and improved stability in two primary modes: “Prioritize FPS” and “Prioritize Graphics.”
This means players can choose between a high frame rate for smoother combat or heightened visual detail to explore historical locales like Yokohama, Edo, and Kyoto in greater fidelity. Notably, producer Fumihiko Yasuda emphasized last month the update’s capacity to bring the 19th-century Japan-inspired setting to life with increased detail and immersion.
In addition to the Pro enhancements, minor bug fixes have been applied to ensure a smoother experience on the base PS5 model as well. While Team Ninja has not provided extensive details on these bug fixes, they are expected to address minor performance inconsistencies reported by players since launch.
The PS5 Pro’s hardware will not only boost the experience in Rise of the Ronin but is also expected to enhance various other games, like Spider-Man 2 and Stellar Blade, using Sony’s new PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology.
This upgrade, exclusive to PS5 Pro, promises improved performance across thousands of PS4-compatible titles through its Game Boost feature.
