A leak has provided what could be the first glimpse of Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra, and it might borrow some cues from foldables along with Apple and Google devices.
Well-known tipster OnLeaks and Android Headlines have shared what they say are renders of the new flagship phone’s design. The images (below) show a device with much flatter rail than the S24 Ultra, partly mirroring the look of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. It also continues a trend of flat-sided phones that started with the iPhone 12 and recently led to the Pixel 9.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra also reportedly smaller thanks to thinner display bezels, and slightly lighter at 7.7oz (219g) versus the current model’s 8.2oz (232g). The screen size is said to be unchanged, and you’ll still find the 5,000mAh battery Samsung has used for a few generations.
Past leaks have suggested the new Ultra will get a long-expected camera upgrade with a 50-megapixel ultrawide along with slight improvements to other sensors. Many expect the device to use a custom version of Qualcomm’s as yet unannounced Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip.
The release date of the Galaxy S25 Ultra remains unknown. In recent years, Samsung has unveiled its latest Galaxy S phones at an Unpacked event in January or February. It won’t be surprising if that pattern continues in 2025.
If the leak is accurate, the S25 Ultra will effectively keep up with a few familiar trends: boxier designs, thin bezels, and camera refinements that revolve around ultrawide sensors. That’s not necessarily a problem if you’re upgrading from a phone that’s a few years old, but it wouldn’t be the major overhaul some are hoping for.
