Upgraded Medication Tracking
Samsung Health’s Medications feature, launched last year, now offers a camera function for scanning medications. This update lets users track adherence rates and medication status, such as dosage timelines and missed doses, via a streamlined dashboard.
Medication tracking is currently available in India and South Korea. In the US, Samsung Health partners with Elsevier to provide alerts covering over 960 allergies and possible medication side effects. In South Korea, users receive caution about drugs to steer clear of during pregnancy through the Korea Pharmaceutical Information Center (KPIC), part of the Korean Pharmaceutical Association. In India, a collaboration with Tata 1mg enables users to get refill reminders and simplifies online medication ordering.
Health Records
Samsung Health’s new Health Records feature lets users obtain medical files from clinics, diagnostic centers, and hospitals. The app collaborates with b.well Connected Health and critical systems like athenahealth, Cerner Health, Veradigm, and Epic Systems to deliver alerts and insights for recommended tests. It also offers a comprehensive health history, enhancing communication with healthcare providers.
Barcode Scanning
Samsung Health now features a barcode scanner to easily log details like food names, calorie content, and nutritional values. In collaboration with the widely used food tracking app FatSecret, users can scan barcodes for instant access to nutritional data. This feature will initially be accessible in the US and several European countries, such as Italy, the Netherlands, France, Germany, and Poland, with plans for future expansion.
Samsung states that availability can change based on market or device and necessitates a mobile device with Android 10.0+ and Samsung Health app version 6.28 or above.
