At first, there were talks that the Samsung S25 Plus was not going to happen, and then that idea fizzled out — Samsung is planning to release an extra sibling for 2025’s S25 range.
While the next generation of Samsung smartphones may be months away, early renders of the Samsung S25 Plus have provided a quick snippet of its design, which takes cues from the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the base Galaxy S25 model.
The upcoming Galaxy phone is expected to be thinner while keeping the same battery capacity as its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus.
While Samsung remains tight-lipped on these speculations, here is a round-up of everything you need to know about the Galaxy S25 Plus, including the expected release date, features, price, and colors.
What is the Samsung S25 Plus?
Samsung S25 Plus is an upcoming Galaxy smartphone tipped to replace the current Samsung S24 Plus in the S25 series mid-variant category.
The phone is rumored to be thinner and may have the same battery capacity as the S24 Plus.
Under the hood, it is speculated to spot a newer processor and updated software. It may also have a slightly thinner and narrower profile, with camera rings similar to those on the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
When is the Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus Coming Out?
We expect the Samsung S25 Plus release date to happen in January, or at most February 2025.
Samsung often lets its Galaxy S-series flagships out of the lab very early in the year. The last edition was launched in January 2024.
We don’t expect the announcement to happen before January 10, when the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) will conclude. Samsung may likely want to hold its launch event outside of the CES aura.
This may push the Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus release date towards the end of January or early February so that it can get broader attention.
Samsung S25 Plus Features and Design
Samsung S25 Plus is expected to have some software upgrades and design changes, even though certain features are projected to remain the same as in the predecessor.
According to ICE UNIVERSE, a well-known Samsung tipster on X, the upcoming Galaxy S25 Plus may have the thickest bezel in the S25 lineup.
However, the new phone may shed some weight and measure 158.4 x 75.7 x 7.3mm (6.2 x 2.9 x 0.2 inches), which could make it slightly narrower and thinner than the Galaxy S24 Plus. The phone may also sport a 6.7-inch AMOLED LTPO screen with a support of up to 120Hz refresh rate.
A bad news,S25+ will be the widest bezel among the three models, which is almost the same as S24+.

Other hints reveal that the Galaxy S25 Plus main camera could have a larger profile, with rings similar to those found on the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The render above shows a new S25 Plus with flat edges and round corners, similar to those of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus.
Artificial Intelligence is also expected to take center stage in most functions of the Samsung S25 Plus. Android 15 is anticipated to arrive before the Galaxy S25 Plus launch, so we expect the new phone to run on this version of Android OS.
Samsung may roll out the One UI 7 update between the end of 2024 and early 2025, and the new UI, when paired with the Android 15, could enable more Galaxy AI features in the upcoming Samsung S25 Plus. This includes a feature called Battery AI, which Samsung purportedly designed to enhance battery efficiency through AI integration.
Samsung S25 Plus Specs and Hardware
Aside from being thinner than the current S24 Plus, Samsung may likely upgrade Galaxy S25 Plus hardware to a stronger Armor Aluminum Build and Gorilla Glass.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, expected to launch by October, could be the processor that powers the Samsung S25 Plus, along with other members of the lineup, including the vanilla variant and the S25 Ultra.
There are also rumors that Samsung could equip the S25 non-Ultra models, including the S25 Plus, with the Exynos 2500 chipset in some markets other than the US.
Contradicting the rumor above, a report by a South Korean media spotted by ICE UNIVERSE claimed that the Exynos 2500 may not meet the production requirements for Samsung phones.
Instead, Samsung may partner with MediaTek to customize processors for the Samsung S25 and S25 Plus, excluding the Ultra model. Whatever the chip Samsung uses, we hope it will be paired with 12GB of RAM and potentially 256GB of base storage.
According to some recent media sensations, one disappointing news about the Samsung S25 Plus is that it may still have the same battery capacity of 4,900mAh as in the predecessor. While this capacity is not bad, Samsung fans may want some improvements rather than a static posture.
The iPhone 16 Plus, its potential competitor, was launched with a 4,674mAh battery, a 6.6 percent jump compared to its predecessor.
However, despite having the same battery capacity as the Galaxy S24 Plus, there are reports that Samsung will introduce a new Battery AI feature, which will use AI to extend the battery life of the new phone by up to 10 percent.
Samsung S25 Plus Colors
The aluminum frame in the Samsung Galaxy S Plus models can support various color combinations, as we have seen in recent versions. Samsung S24 Plus came out in Amber Yellow, Marble Gray, Onyx Black, and Cobalt Violet, while Jade Green, Sapphire Blue, and Sandstone Orange were only available when you bought the phone through Samsung’s store.
No information is available on the Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus colors yet, but we assume Samsung may retain the predecessor’s color combinations in the new model.

It might be too early to take any Samsung S25 pricing rumors seriously. However, based on available insights, pricing for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus is likely to stay relatively close to that of its predecessor, the Galaxy S24 Plus.
Samsung has maintained consistent pricing for its Galaxy lineup for the past two generations, and this suggests that drastic price fluctuations are unlikely this time around.
The Galaxy S24 Plus base storage variant started at $999, and we expect the Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus release price to remain in the same range and launch at $999, or possibly $1,050 if Samsung decides to consider factors like inflation and rising component costs in its next product pricing.
