At the September 2024 RGG Summit, Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio introduced Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, set for release on February 28, 2025.
The game follows Goro Majima as he hunts treasure and becomes a pirate captain in a story intertwined with Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.
Majima’s Pirate Adventure
Set in Hawaii, the game will see Majima washed ashore on Rich Island, guided by a child with a pet tiger. Majima embarks on a mission to recover lost treasure, possibly involving ship combat, reminiscent of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag. In addition to the regular land combat, this entry introduces the ability to fight on ships, expanding the Yakuza universe in an entirely new way.

New Combat Styles
Players can battle enemies using Majima’s signature “Mad Dog Style” or switch to the new “Sea Dog Style,” designed specifically for this pirate-themed adventure. The game also marks a first in the series by allowing players to jump, enhancing the movement mechanics for more dynamic combat.
Continuation from Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
The storyline picks up from the events of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, where Majima deals with the consequences of Ichiban Kasuga’s interactions with the cult of Palekana. Majima is thrown into a leadership role as a pirate captain, adding layers of complexity to the narrative.
