Shack Shack has confirmed a partnership with Serve Robotics to deliver orders to customers in Los Angeles via Uber Eats.

Your next burger craving could be satisfied with an autonomous robot bringing the goods directly to your door.

Serve Robotics has offered its distinct delivery service in LA for the last two years centered around raison d’etre, “Why deliver two-pound burritos in two-ton cars?” The robots are designed to safely deliver hot or cold food using GPS, AI, and route planning without occupying any space on city roads.

Backed by established names, such as Nvidia and 7-Eleven, Serve divested from its former parent company, Uber, in March 2021 to stand alone as an independent robot delivery startup.

A press release detailed the full arrangement between the three entities which will ultimately see Shake Shack’s popular burgers and shakes delivered to customers in the LA area. The agreement allows Uber Eats to expand its offering using Serve’s robots.

This means the company can scale up the number of robot machines deployed on the streets, part of plans to have 2000 in action across the United States in 2025.

Shake Shack’s Recent Innovations

The fast-food chain has recently introduced digital kiosks to its outlets. The largest share of orders are now received in that way.

During Shake Shack’s Q1 earnings call in May, CFO Katie Fogertey outlined how the tech creates more opportunities for upselling items while customers find a more intuitive experience to customize their order, compared to traditional counter ordering from cashiers.
