Sonos has delivered on its pledge to expand the TV Audio Swap feature for its recently launched Ace headphones, bringing the technology to a wider range of customers.
TV Audio Swap is a useful attribute that allows you to switch audio from the Sonos Arc soundbar to your Ace headphones for a more immersive experience, dealing enhanced sound direct to your ears.
Sonos is now hosting the feature on its more affordable soundbar models. It will operate on the full Beam range, as well as the entry-level Ray.
Another barrier to accessibility is removed with the introduction of support for Android, meaning the service is no longer restricted to customers with Apple devices. Once the fresh update is installed through the Sonos app, users can activate the audio from TV to headphones with a simple press of the content button on the right ear. It can also be selected through the app.
“Centered in the Action”
Wi-Fi is used for the connection, but to personalize the settings you should refer to the app for further options. A chip inside the cans kicks in to accept the signals from the soundbar when the feature is in action.
Bluetooth will still be switched on in the background, connected to your phone but if you receive a phone call you will need to unpair the audio to reconnect Bluetooth while watching your chosen entertainment on TV.
Sports fans are likely to be encouraged by a description from a Sonos spokesperson of feeling “centered in the action” from the spatial audio with Dolby Atmos, which is supported by TV audio.
The increased accessibility for the feature will operate with any input connected to your TV set, including consoles.
Just a couple of weeks ago, Sonos CEO Patrick Spence apologized for the bumpy launch of the official app after a user backlash against stability and functionality issues. Moving forward, the company has committed to bi-weekly updates to improve transparency and address issues.
