Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has debuted its third live service season, however the game’s player count is still declining.
While new seasons will usually help move the needle for an ongoing live service game, as fresh players find a jumping-on point and returning pros check out the new content, Kill the Justice League Season 3 has a 24-hour peak Steam player count of just 250 at the time of writing. This is despite the new character Lawless and fresh rewards being added.
Many players have been drawing comparisons between Kill the Justice League and 2024’s other high-profile, underperforming live service title: Concord. Firewalk Studios’ embattled shooter featured similarly flagging numbers before being unexpectedly pulled from sale by Sony.
Diehard Suicide Squad fans can breathe a sigh of relief, as, despite its consistently low player count, the game won’t be following Concord into delisting any time soon.
The difference in these two live service cases is that Concord had only been widely playable for two weeks before Sony pulled the plug, whereas Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has been active since January 2024, with the planned Season 4 including fan-favourite villain Deathstroke still due for debut.
Further content updates for the game are currently up in the air, but Rocksteady has promised that, at the very least, Suicide Squad’s first four seasons will make it into play.
Still, Kill the Justice League’s sales performance and active player numbers have been below Rocksteady and Warner Bros’ expectations. The game’s launch – while drawing in greater numbers than Concord’s – attracted fewer players than the studios’ previous DC universe games, with the player count continuing to decline over 2024 and the game’s first two playable seasons.
For those that have clicked with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s anarchic shooter action, seasons 3 and 4 may be the time to make the most of it before Rocksteady moves on to new – or familiar – pastures.
