Tesla has created a bundle offering three years of Full Self-Driving Supervised (FSD), Supercharging, and Premium Connectivity will set Model S and Model X drivers back $5,000.
This announcement comes after the EV maker has seen problems selling its FSD package, which increased to $15,000 in 2022. Earlier this year it slashed the price to $8,000 with only limited effect. A few months later, it cut the price of its FSD subscription from $199 a month to $99 a month.
CEO Elon Musk originally said Tesla would continue to raise the FSD package prices as the system improved, ensuring Tesla vehicles became “appreciation assets.” He also said the package would be worth over $100,000 once it was feature complete.
Tesla’s New Bundle is Good Value, Depending on Charging Habits
Whether this new bundle is worth it or not depends on your driving habits. Electrek broke down the cost in comparison to an FSD-only subscription at $99 a month, costing $3,600 in total over three years. With Premium Connectivity coming in at $100 a year, you’re getting three years of Supercharging for $1,100.
Though the majority of Tesla drivers charge their vehicles overnight at home, those who use the Supercharger network more frequently will likely find this new bundle better value than the FSD standalone subscription.
However, if buyers are already spending $70,000 to $90,000 on a Model X or Model S, they could just add $3,600 to buy FSD outright rather than taking the three-year bundle for the other perks. It’s really only worth it if you’re using Supercharging more than around ten times a year.
Tesla’s new bundle is available now to drivers in the US, but not currently available in Canada.
