Ubisoft recently confirmed that Star Wars Outlaws fell short of internal performance expectations.
To remedy the situation, the dev teams are working to implement updates and improve the player experience.
French video game publisher Ubisoft revealed in a financial report on September 25 that Star Wars Outlaws, though receiving decent ratings from Metacritic (76) and Epic Stores (3.9/5), did not sell as well as the company had hoped.

Ubisoft’s CEO, Yves Guillemot, acknowledged that the company’s fiscal performance in the second quarter failed to meet projected targets. He stressed that the company is responding to this shortfall promptly and decisively, implementing strategies that prioritize user experience and reinforce the enduring value of Ubisoft’s intellectual properties.
Ubisoft did not set any sales target for Star Wars Outlaws before its release on August 26, adding to concerns about its success. Shortly after the game’s launch, Ubisoft’s stock tanked, confirming fears that it had fallen short of the company’s expectations.
Per industry speculation reported by GamesIndustry.biz on their Microcast podcast, the game purportedly sold approximately 800,000 units across Xbox and PlayStation platforms by late August 2024. However, Ubisoft has yet to issue an official statement confirming these figures.
Notably, there seems to be a consensus on why Star Wars Outlaw underperformed. One major issue was that PS5 players had to delete their progress to update the game before its release, which was a big disappointment.
I reviewed Star Wars Outlaws and I'm bummed to say it didn't jive with me as a massive Star Wars fan
– Andromeda level motion capture
– Constantly forced and frustrating stealth segments without the proper mechanics to support it
– HUGE missed opportunity with the reputation… pic.twitter.com/8ESIQ4KpcS— MrMattyPlays (@G27Status) August 26, 2024
In addition, players felt that the game’s key features were broken. The stealth system, which should have been a core part of the gameplay, and the stun feature had an overly long cooldown, making them less effective in fast-paced scenarios that require quick thinking. These issues and many more made the game feel unfinished and frustrating for many fans.
