WhatsApp is working on replacing its green verification badge with a blue checkmark, as per reports by WABETAINFO.
For Android users, the change will be visible as part of the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.14.18 update, which is available on the Google Play Store. On the other hand, the company is testing the feature for iPhones via the WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.16.10.72 update, which is available on TestFlight.
The blue checkmark indicates authenticity, offering users reassurance that they are interacting with a verified channel or business, aiming to cut down on impersonation. The change aims to enhance brand consistency across Meta platforms and improve the user experiences across its services by aligning WhatsApp’s visual identity with platforms like Facebook and Instagram. This consistency will allow users to recognize verified accounts across different services easily.

This decision may also be seen as a response to Meta Verified, a feature recently announced by Mark Zuckerberg and available to some businesses in certain markets. As per the report, some users who are not part of the beta program might still be able to view the blue checkmark for verified channels and businesses if they have installed recent updates. WhatsApp appears to be rolling out this feature gradually, meaning users across different versions could notice the change at different times
