WhatsApp’s upcoming feature might allow users to choose from ten voices for Meta AI, enhancing personalization for diverse speech patterns and accents.
According to WhatsApp Beta Info, WhatsApp is currently developing a new voice chat mode for Meta AI.
The new feature will make interactions with Meta AI more natural and personalized. It will reportedly offer ten different voices depending on user preferences. For example, users could choose a calming voice for a conversation before bedtime or a more energetic voice for motivational advice.
Offering a variety of voices to choose from could also cater to different speech patterns and accents so that users from different locations and linguistic backgrounds feel they can relate to the AI.
For those with hearing difficulties, choosing the voice they want to converse with could enhance accessibility, as some voices may be easier to understand than others.
Voice chat mode and the range of voices offered aim to make Meta AI feel more personable, so conversing with the AI feels like chatting with a real human.
This feature is still under development and will be landing in a future WhatsApp update, though there’s no word yet on when that will be.
Voice Chat Comes to Chatbots
Other chatbots, such as ChatGPT and Google Gemini, have already added voice mode to their available features. When conversing with ChatGPT, users can choose from five lifelike voices. Plus subscribers can access Advanced Voice Mode with a single, more natural, and responsive voice.
Google Gemini is rolling out voice chat to Gemini Advanced subscribers with ten voices.
With OpenAI recently admitting it has concerns that users may become emotionally attached to ChatGPT, it’s easy to see why some people are concerned about AI voice chat, which makes human-to-AI conversations feel more natural. WhatsApp’s voice chat for Meta AI could face similar controversy when it drops.
