Xiaomi is reportedly working on a technology that will allow the company to equip a 7,000mAh battery with 120W charging or a 7,500mAh battery with 100W charging in a handset. 

The former is said to be capable of getting fully charged in 63 minutes while the latter can charge in 49 minutes. As per a report by insider Digital Chat Station on Weibo, Xiaomi is considering different fast charging solutions for their smartphones ranging from 5,500mAh up to 7,500mAh batteries with different configurations of 120W charging and 100W fast charging.

While most Xiaomi handsets come equipped with 5,000mAh batteries, the recently released Redmi Note 13 Pro+ and Redmi K70 Ultra differentiate themselves with a 5,500mAh battery. These models feature 120W fast charging, which Xiaomi claims can charge the battery from zero to 100% in just 24 minutes.

For reference, the company has already showcased its 300W fast charging solution with the Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition. The device which packs a 4,100mAh battery can be charged in just 5 minutes. Other brands like OnePlus have also shown off large batteries and next-generation fast charging speeds. While announcing new batteries with ultra-fast charging capabilities, companies also reveal the safety solutions they have built in to avoid heating.
