If you’re used to wireless charging for all of your devices at home, going on a trip can be painful — you often have to either lug a large charger with you or resort to old-fashioned cables.
Belkin thinks it can fix that with the BoostCharge 3-in-1 Magnetic Foldable Charger and the BoostCharge Pro Magnetic Wireless Travel Pad. Both promise MagSafe and Qi2 charging for your phone, an Apple Watch charging puck, and a space to top up wireless earbuds like AirPods, even as they fold down to stow away in your backpack. As we’ve found out in our review, both do a great job on that front — although you’ll want to think carefully if you use Android devices.
BoostCharge 3-in-1 Review: Desktop Solution That Works on the Move
I’ll cut to the chase: the $100 3-in-1 Magnetic Foldable Wireless Charger is probably the best all-around wireless charger I’ve used, with a couple of quirks.
It has a squarish base, with a MagSafe/Qi2 phone charger that folds flat when not in use. There’s also a collapsible Apple Watch dock with fast charging and a dish meant to charge your AirPods or almost any wireless earbuds. The design absolutely feels at home on a desk but doesn’t take up much space on a nightstand when you’re traveling.
And importantly, that flip-up phone charger is great if you use Apple’s StandBy mode, which turns your iPhone into a smart clock when you tilt it on its side. I found that helpful when on the road — I could use the BoostCharge as an impromptu alarm clock. It’s just as well, though, since your view of a charging Apple Watch (which can also double as a clock) is partly obscured if earbuds are charging at the same time.
The speeds are up to par, at least. You’ll get up to 15W through MagSafe or Qi2 and 5W each for the watch and buds. None of these is exceptionally quick by itself, but the combination means that you’re never waiting long for any of your devices, either. I also like that Belkin includes a 36W USB-C charger brick and cable to get you started; neither of those is guaranteed these days.
With that said, this isn’t quite the universal charger you might hope for. Although Qi2 technically opens things up, there’s no lip to hold a non-magnetic phone when the stand is up, and I wouldn’t count on a stable surface when that stand is down. And you’re better off with the 2-in-1 Magnetic Foldable Charger if you do have a Qi2-capable Android phone, since you’ll save both money and space on an Apple Watch charger you don’t need.
BoostCharge Pro 3-in-1 Travel Pad Review: The Most Compact Option
I also had the opportunity to review the $130 BoostCharge Pro 3-in-1 Magnetic Wireless Travel Pad. My sample isn’t cosmetically identical to what you’ll get, but it’s functionally representative of the full experience.
This might be your go-to wireless charger if space is of the essence in your bag. It’s effectively three charging “islands” that fold on top of each other. You can collapse the whole thing into a small footprint when you’re ready to travel, and you can unfold it to varying degrees based on what you need. That includes the phone charger segment — you can lay it flat if you just want a pad, or tilt it up to put an iPhone into StandBy mode.
I really appreciated this layout on my trip to an Opera event in the UK. I could have a super-compact charger in my backpack, and it didn’t take up too much space on a crowded hotel desk.
Some of the caveats of the Magnetic Foldable Charger still apply, in addition to a unique issue. You won’t want to bank on this for charging non-magnetic Android phones, and there’s no point if you aren’t completely ensconced in Apple’s world (as it includes an Apple Watch charger). The BoostCharge Pro also gets crowded if you have the iPhone tilted while you’re charging an Apple Watch, so keep that in mind if you have an elaborate strap.
A note on Android phones with Qi2 wireless charging
As of this writing, Apple is virtually the only major phone manufacturer to natively support Qi2. You’ll find niche devices like the HMD Skyline, but that’s about it. While that could change in the future if devices like the OnePlus 13 embrace Qi2, Belkin is really betting on the future rather than accommodating today’s users. Google and Samsung both passed on the technology for their latest flagships, and it’s not yet known if they’ll change their minds for their 2025 models.
With that said, you don’t have to count on native support. It’s easy to find cases that add MagSafe to mainstream Android phones, such as those from Dbrand and Mous. If you’re willing to go that route, the Belkin chargers make more sense. You can get magnetic charging right now and hopefully transition to Qi2 as it becomes more popular.
Final Verdict: Should You Buy a Belkin Qi2 Charger?
If you’re heavily invested in Apple products, the answer is yes. The BoostCharge 3-in-1 Magnetic Foldable Charger particularly makes sense as it works well both as a travel charger and a full-time home station — you might particularly like it as a bedside companion. The BoostCharge Pro 3-in-1 Magnetic Wireless Travel Pad is clearly more specialized, but is still a good pick if you need something that can stuff into a tight space when not in use.
With Android, I’d currently recommend shying away from any Qi2 model unless you have an aftermarket magnetic case and are willing to keep finding phones with those cases going forward. You always want to buy a wireless charger with a degree of future-proofing in mind, and right now, the market’s just too shaky. You might regret it if you find out that the Galaxy S25 or Pixel 10 you want still doesn’t support Qi2.
