Taplin told Techopedia in a chat:

Vincalek told Techopedia:
“Mr. Altman’s predictions are nonsensical. He’s creating an image of utopia where humanity lives in harmony with some sort of superintelligence. Unfortunately, he’s making his prediction on a non-existent reality. The technology, which he bases his prediction on, is not capable of delivering even on simple tasks today.”
Three Shifts Already in Motion
Altman outlines three major changes superintelligence could drive in the coming years: the rise of robots, the end of many jobs, and the wide availability of intelligence itself.
1. Humanoid Robotics
Altman sees humanoid robots as inevitable within the decade. They won’t just assist with factory or warehouse tasks. He imagines a feedback loop where robots can operate the entire supply chain from mining, transportation, and even chip manufacturing.
If early units are built conventionally, and those in turn build more robots, we could see exponential automation across sectors, he said.

For Altman, safety is the first condition for building anything worth trusting. The first challenge is how we can achieve what he calls “collective alignment.”
AI needs to understand and pursue goals that match long-term human values, not short-term behaviors.

Taplin told Techopedia the safety questions can’t be left to idealism:
“Expecting governments to move fast is a nonstarter. The most practical route is a hybrid approach: a multilateral AI framework modeled after the IAEA or ICAO, industry-led safety consortia with real teeth, not just PR gestures, and meaningful public input.”
