Solasta 2 came as a surprise at The Game Awards. Developers Tactical Adventures officially unveiled their next game with a slick trailer but didn’t disclose the Solasta 2 release date. However, there is much information for returning and new fans to glean from the one-and-a-half-minute cinematic trailer.

Fans of tabletop RPGs loved how faithful Solasta is to Dungeons & Dragons rule sets. The developers translated the D&D 5th edition, the latest version of the tabletop, to the game. While Baldur’s Gate 3 stole all the limelight, and rightfully so, fans craving more D&D can dive into Solasta and have a blast.

Solasta remained in early access for around eight months, so the full Solasta 2 release date may be towards the end of 2025. Unfortunately, Tactical Adventures hasn’t announced a release window for both early access and the full release.

Tactical Adventures has also not disclosed any Solasta 2 early access plans yet. Apart from adding online co-op to Solasta 2 later in early access, the developers are keeping quiet on other details, including release dates. However, fans may be able to play the free Solasta 2 demo as soon as the next Steam Next Fest.

What is Solasta 2?

Solasta 2 will be another authentic D&D RPG that lets players create their own party and explore a sizable world. The first game garnered praise for its faithfulness to Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition. The sequel will retain the classes, spells, and, of course, dice rolls to keep the mechanics as close to the tabletop RPG as possible.

Solasta followed four adventurers tasked with completing an ancient artifact. The first game was a bit on the short side, with some average storytelling, but the moment-to-moment gameplay and combat made it a special experience. Developer Tactical Adventures would want to keep the combat close to the D&D ruleset in the sequel. While the first game isn’t as freeing as Divinity Original Sin 2 or Baldur’s Gate 3, it is nonetheless a satisfying CRPG experience.

Tactically, Solasta saw players outnumbered by the enemy. So, making sound choices that maximized the turn was the way to victory. The reveal trailer shows snippets of gameplay that confirm Solasta 2 will retain the tactical combat from the first game. The spells were flashy in Solasta, but Solasta 2 is ramping up the flamboyance to good effect.

Fans can expect challenging encounters with new enemies in a new location. Players familiar with D&D will be at home making custom characters and taking on the difficulty. The first game had a well-crafted starting tutorial that introduced new players to the rules; hopefully, Solasta 2 will also ease players into its world.

Expected Solasta 2 Price

Solasta launched at $40, and we have no reason to believe the price of Solasta 2 will be any different. The early access version of the first game was $5 cheaper than the final version, so early backers might get a slight discount on the Solasta 2 price. Nothing has been confirmed by the developer or publisher yet, so this is all a calculated guess at this point.

For the price, Solasta delivered a solid D&D experience in a computer RPG. However, many reviewers ducked points for its short campaign. Solasta 2 will rectify the shortcomings and provide a more extended role-playing experience.

Solasta 2 Platforms

Solasta 2 platforms only include PCs at the moment. The first game launched on PC in early access, and the Solasta 2 release is also PC-exclusive for now. The Kickstarter-funded Solasta: Crown of the Magister was released for Windows in May 2021, followed by a macOS release in November.

The game was eventually ported to Xbox consoles in July 2022 and saw a PlayStation 5 release in March 2024. Going by the track record, Solasta 2 will ultimately come to every platform. Unfortunately, the first game didn’t get a Nintendo Switch port; the sequel may also skip the Nintendo handheld.

Solasta 2 Trailer

Tactical Adventures has only released a single Solasta 2 trailer so far. The trailer shows a new enemy, the enigmatic Shadwyn, who threatens Neokos.

The Solasta 2 trailer starts with a CGI introduction to the antagonist but switches to short gameplay clips. The developers used Unity to make the first game but have switched to Unreal Engine 5 for the sequel. The graphical upgrades look substantial, especially in character models and combat effects.

Solasta 2 was announced at The Game Awards 2024 with a surprise reveal trailer. Since then,

developer Tactical Adventures has announced that players will soon be able to play a demo of Solasta 2 at the Steam Next Fest, which is rumored to launch in late February 2025. No registration is necessary to check out the demo, and it will be free to download from Steam once the event starts.
