Why Trust Techopedia

Sophisticated, yet simple, Coinbase Advanced is one of the most reliable crypto trading platforms dedicated to experienced traders. It will soon replace Coinbase Pro – with the same low volume-based fees and no subscription fees.

Key features that underscore the competitive edge of the platform are its high-end charting capabilities powered by TradingView, real-time order books, deep liquidity across 552 markets, and robust security measures.

Here is an analysis of Coinbase Advanced and how it is designed to be an ideal trading and decision-making partner for seasoned traders.

Powerful Trading Tools

Coinbase Advanced charts are powered by TradingView with drawing tools. It offers a wide range of indicators (104) like EMEA, MA, MACD, RSI, and Bollinger Brand to name just a few.

They track market trends and patterns to help traders hone their investment strategy and portfolio. A curated collection of indicators can give traders a better perspective of an asset’s buy and sell price.

The watch lists on Coinbase Advanced are customizable. It also offers automatic performance calculations with real-time market data (including APIs for REST/Websocket protocols). Users can place limits and stop orders with the platform.

Since Coinbase Advanced provides liquidity across 552 markets, the trade efficiency is excellent. It has the same liquidity as Pro.

The key order types on Coinbase Advancede include market order, limit order, stop-limit orders, and auction mode. The fee structure, as mentioned above, is competitive, being volume-based.

Highest Standards of Security

Coinbase is arguably one of the most secure centralized crypto exchanges in the world. It manages assets for over 100 million customers and has earned its position as the largest publicly traded crypto exchange.

The new product from the platform, Coinbase Advanced is no exception when it comes to safety with state-of-the-art encryption and security programs.

It is important to note that the assets are held 1:1 on Coinbase and are never lent without the user’s consent. The platform is backed by an array of advanced security procedures like 2FA, biometrics for mobile, and multi-approval withdrawals in Coinbase Vault to name a few.

Another interesting point to note is that the platform allows Address Whitelisting.

Fair and transparent fee structure

Coinbase Advanced has implemented a maker-taker fee model to determine advanced trading fees. It varies for Maker Orders and Taker Orders.

Calculation of the fees is based on the pricing tier that a user is in at the time the order is placed, and not based on the tier that the user would be in after the completion of a trade.

  • Starting at the 100k volume tier, the maker/taker fees are the same as major competitors (ie. Binance), at <=0.1% maker; <=0.2% taker at >$100k trade volume.
  • Stable Pairs are 0 bps for maker volumes, 0.1 bps for taker volumes for all volume tier.

The fee tier is recalculated hourly based on their total trading volume.

The creative approach allows Coinbase Advanced to charge fees dynamically to the trading behavior of users, while providing flexibility and reflecting a user’s trading activity accurately.
