Rockstar has finally given video game fans who are looking forward to the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 something to cheer about, as the studio confirmed that pre-sales for the highly anticipated title will open on June 25.
Fans will be able to preorder through digital marketplaces like the PlayStation Store and through certain participating retailers. The announcement has ramped up anticipation for a sequel that Rockstar first teased in February 2022.
The release date remains set for November 19, when Rockstar will launch GTA 6 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. It hasn’t been smooth sailing, as Rockstar originally targeted a fall 2025 launch date, before pushing it to May 2026 and then setting the third and final date of November 19. Each delay seemed to only raise the excitement around the project, and the preorder news gives fans reassurance that the finish line is in sight.
Teasing Extra Characters
Rockstar also unveiled the game’s official cover art in a 30-second video to accompany the preorder announcement. The clip has a booming synth soundtrack and puts the game’s two protagonists, Jason and Lucia, at the center, while also teasing some additional characters.
The cover takes a lot of inspiration from the game’s setting in the fictional US state of Leonida, which is a clear take on Florida. The artwork features flamingos and alligators, as well as fast cars, helicopters, sand, and motorbikes. Rockstar rendered everything in the bold, pop art style that people associate with the Grand Theft Auto franchise.
Big Expectations for GTA 6 Sales
Rockstar did not mention the game’s price tag in the announcement. People have heavily speculated about the cost of GTA 6, and the silence only lends itself to more chatter. Gaming industry advisory firm Epyllion suggested in a 2025 report that it could become the first major title to hit the $100 mark, which exceeds the standard $70 that players expect from similar titles.
Expectations over the sales figures are sky high, if GTA 5 is anything to go by. Rockstar released it in 2013, and it became the second-highest-selling video game of all time, staying culturally relevant for over a decade thanks to its online mode. That makes GTA 6 a follow-up to one of the most successful entertainment products ever made, which is why every drip of information gets such a large reaction.
Fans are still waiting on a new gameplay trailer, after Rockstar dropped small reveals in 2023 and 2025. The two trailers alone have over 430 million views together, underlining the size of the audience. The release date is now only five months away and preorders are about to go live, so the pressure is on the studio to ensure that it can deliver when the game finally hits the shelves.

Black Ops 1 and 2 Are Returning to PlayStation
Call of Duty fans on Sony hardware are welcoming the news that Activision will bring Black Ops and Black Ops 2 to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 for the first time. Xbox players have had access to these older games in the series through successive console generations, but PlayStation owners have been left without access to the original two Black Ops titles.
Developer Treyarch confirmed on social media that the port will take place in July. Treyarch confirmed them as ports and not remasters, so players won’t be getting any significant overhaul or modernized graphics. Black Ops originally launched in 2010 and Black Ops 2 followed in 2012, with the series growing into one of the most beloved parts of the Call of Duty brand. The latest iterations were Black Ops 6 in 2024 and Black Ops 7 in 2025.
The Simpsons Coming to Fortnite’s Creation Tools
Epic Games and Disney have announced that they are adding The Simpsons to the UEFN program on Fortnite. This will allow players to build “fully authentic” games based on the well-known animation series. Creators will get access to licensed characters and settings, allowing them to work on a sanctioned sandbox built around Springfield.
This is not the first major collaboration of this kind, as Epic and Disney previously brought Star Wars assets into the UEFN, with the community producing some impressive results. The Simpsons tools are due to go live late this year and Disney has not shared any details yet on the limitations.
Disney imposed several restrictions with the Star Wars collaboration, including a ban on using the assets for political purposes.
The partnership makes a lot of sense, as a Fortnite x The Simpsons crossover last year attracted 80 million unique players and reached numbers not seen for a while.
