The Internet of Things (IoT) describes the idea of everyday physical objects being connected to the internet and being able to identify themselves to other devices and send and receive data. Everything from lighting to toasters, if they are connected online, count as IoT, and the technology is heavily deployed in industrial and manufacturing sectors for smooth operation.
